A record is the best result obtained over a certain distance or within an imposed time limit. Only the fastest record within the same category, group, division, type and class will be considered for ratification each calendar day. When the result has been ratified by the FIM it becomes a FIM LAND SPEED WORLD RECORD
A World Record attempt for a given class can only be made with a motorcycle where the engine size is within the capacity limits for that class. A World Record is only valid for the class which corresponds to the capacity of the engine.
Due to the new method of calculation, introduced by the FIM Technical Commission in January 1978, short distance records made prior to this date are absolute.
Consequently, these World Records are definite and cannot be broken.
